These days, it's nearly impossible to find a truly great film to watch. That's why we have a slightly different rating system than your average site. Clearly bad films heavily outweigh the good ones. So the real question is often "how bad is this film I'm about to rent?" Or, "will I want to hang after seeing (insert shameless reboot of classic film)?"

Rating Scale

GREAT - Given to those rare masterpieces. A film that succeeds on every level. Writing, directing, acting, editing, musical score... everything. (Ex. Vertigo, The Godfather, Raging Bull)

GOOD - These films may be flawed, but ultimately they're extremely entertaining. And that's really all that matters in the end. (Ex. Batman Begins, Casino Royale, Wall Street, Happy Gilmore, The Boondock Saints, Gladiator, The Fast and the Furious, We Own the Night)

BAD - One or more elements fail so completely it ruins most of the entertainment value. Maybe it's a god-awful script, terrible acting, or a combination of things. But the film might still be slightly enjoyable (Ex. Air Force One, Pandorum, Clash of the Titans, Fast and Furious, Pitch Black, Armageddon, The Punisher, Little Nicky)

VERY BAD - These will make you feel sick to your stomach. (Ex. The Running Man, Eagle Eye, Tokyo Drift, Pearl Harbor, X-Men Origins, Daredevil, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry)

HORRENDOUSLY, MIND-NUMBINGLY BAD - If you thought any film with this rating was good, please close the browser immediately. Never, ever come back. (Ex. The Wicker Man (2006), Battlefield Earth)
